Thomas O'Donovan came to Australia a decade or so ago for a working holiday, working with greyhounds, and decided to stay – he was an instant hit when he turned his hand to training and got to Group level with a small but select team. But, the young Irishman got homesick and headed back to Ireland where he has established himself as a Group 1 trainer... just like the rest of his family.
But, what Thomas picked up when he was in Australia was an intimate knowledge of the quality of race dog here and just what is needed to succeed in the toughest racing scene in the world. So, the fact that Thomas O'Donovan has been behind sending ONE TIME ONLY (Droopys Sydney-Mags Image by Tyrur Big Mike) to Australia for stud means he has handcrafted the selection of the multiple Group 1 winner to give bloodlines here a much needed outcross.
And, Thomas O'Donovan should know everything about ONE TIME ONLY. He recommended his purchase as a youngster and then prepared him to win the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes, the Group 1 Irish Laurels, and then finish second in the Group 1 Select Stakes.
